A beloved rock band's impromptu concert came to a sudden and unexpected end earlier this week after an audience member experienced a medical emergency. According to a video uploaded to TikTok, captured by a fan namedTristyn, the All-American Rejects were forced to cut things short when somebody overdosed at their Ames, Iowa concert over the weekend—a show that reportedly took place in a barn and cost fans a mere $5 to get into. "Guys, hey, listen guys. Man, I'm so sorry to have to do this, man, but I hope you'd understand that when life is on the line rock and roll doesn't matter. All right? So everybody, if you're gonna get home, get home very slowly and safely. And thank you for coming out tonight, okay? I'm sorry that it ended this way," the band announced to the crowd, as seen in the social media video. While the in-person audience seemed a bit put out by the situation, those viewing at home were "so proud" of the band. TikTokers sent "so much respect to" the band for the way they handled the "sad and scary" situation. "So proud of All American Rejects for handling this with empathy and kindness and compassion ❤️,' one wrote, while another suggested they'd earned the title of "Band of the Year" between their sensitive response andtheir current, unique tour of house party-style shows. "Well said," someone else agreed. "They did the right thing 👏." Another fan who said they were in attendance at the show in question was "embarrassed and appalled" by the way some people reportedly "boo'd when he said out of respect they weren't going to continue the concert." "Basic human empathy during a scary moment for the person involved AND the stress the band felt before and after should help you understand why it wasnt right to continue," they added.
