On the show, Maas praised her husband Josh Wasserman for his unwavering support as she grew as an author. The author and her husband were attending a book signing in the Philippines when she realized she couldn't find Wasserman — great, she thought, "he's lost in Manila." Maas then looked up to find her husband with his own line of roughly 300 fans, who were eagerly awaiting his signature on their books, too. "They embraced him and included him and they started calling him Papa Maas," she added. "His last name's not Maas, but I'm like, 'okay, we'll lean into that.'" Maas praised Wasserman's tendency to "pick up the slack" so she can focus on writing. He'll watch the kids and get them to bed — little things that allow Maas to not feel guilty about prioritizing her career, she said. Wasserman, in turn, prioritizes taking care of his wife. Maas noted her husband always puts on her favorite show (Bob's Burgers) to help her unwind, which she calls "true love." "I'm also here because my husband encouraged me," she admitted.
